SovaldiSovaldi is a brand name of the medicine called sofosbuvir. This medicine represents a new generation innovation in the treatment of viral infections particularly hepatitis C virus.

Actually the medicine stops hepatitis C virus to develop in the human body. The medicine is used only together with other antiviral drugs to cope with hepatitis infection in adult patients. Ribavirin manufactured under brands Copegus and Rebetol, Ribasphere, RibaTab with or without peginterferon alfa manufactured under brands Pegasys and PegIntron are often used in combination with Sovaldi.

Sovaldi can also be used together with Daklinza (daclatasvir) for the management of hepatitis C in patients with genotype 3.

The treatment with Sovaldi along with other drugs should be started with an approval of a doctor. Pregnant women must not use the combination therapy due to increased birth defects risks related to ribavirin use.
